Fertility investigations

Dr. Shterev Hospital provides a full range of fertility investigations for both female and male patients. Investigations carried out by the Clinical laboratory, Andrological laboratory, Genetic laboratory and Diagnostic Imaging Unit:

Fertility tests for women:
Transvaginal pelvic Ultrasound scan – the scan will evaluate the size, shape and condition of the uterus/womb, uterine lining of the womb, ovaries and pelvic area
Antral Follicle Count – number of antral follicles correlates with ovarian response to stimulation (performed on cycle day 2–3)
Female fertility hormone profile – FSH, LH, Estradiol, Prolactin (performed on cycle day 2–3)
Progesterone (performed on cycle day 21)
Ovarian reserve hormone profile – AMH (Anti-Müllerian Hormone), Inhibin B (no specific timing for the tests)
Thyroid hormones – TSH, FT3, FT4, TAT & MAT (no specific timing for the tests)
Karyotyping – the test will examine chromosomes in a sample of cells, which can help identify genetic problems.  The test count the number of chromosomes and look for structural changes in chromosomes
STD's
Saline infusion sonogram – an uterine and tubal assessment (performed on cycle day 10)
Hysterosalpingogram (HSG) – this is an x-ray examination of the fallopian tubes to ensure the tubes are not blocked

Fertility tests for men:
Basic and Extended Semen Analysis (according to World Health Organization 2010 Semen Analysis Reference Guidelines)
Semen DNA fragmentation Analysis
Y micro-deletions
